World Coffee Events (WCE) has announced it is partnering with the New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association (NZSCA) to bring Re:co to Auckland in November. From 18 – 19, WCE and NZSCA will present the specialty coffee symposium introduced to Gothenburg, Sweden earlier in the year. Re:co, or Regarding Coffee, celebrates new ways of thinking, concepts for building a successful business and ways to push the industry forward. New Zealand’s Peter of Lewis Road Creamery has been announced as a local speaker. Fellow Aucklander Al Keating of Coffee Supreme will act as Master of Ceremonies. Trish Rothgeb, Director of Q and educational programs at the Coffee Quality Institute, will fly in from the United States, as will Ric Rhinehart the Executive Director of the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA). James Hoffmann, the head of London’s iconic Square Mile Coffee Roasters and a former World Barista Champion will be attending as a speaker. James worked with Peter Giuliano, Senior Director of Symposium for the SCAA, to direct the debut event in Gothenburg in June. “The point of the symposium is about bringing people together, sharing their ideas and generating some discussion,” said Hoffman. In keeping with the original concept, NZSCA said it wants to ensure the symposium promotes an open discussion and a meeting of minds. NZSCA is inviting attendees to networking drinks on the first evening, and a dinner on the second, in conjunction with the two days of discussions. Re:co NZ will be held at the Museum of Transport and Technology Aviation Hall in Auckland from 18 – 19 June.
