When Coffee Speaks: Stories from and of Latin American Coffee people is a compilation of interviews with people involved in all aspects of the coffee industries of Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, and Colombia. The stories shared by producers, agronomists, exporters, and labourers reveal the complex and nuanced process behind making coffee possible. The book’s varied storytellers recount their experiences with coffee; issues of pricing, financial and environmental sustainability, family tradition, community organisation, land ownership, gender roles, crop science, government regulation, and resilience against all odds, to create a textured fabric of first-person accounts.
