World Coffee Research (WCR) has released a new poster that celebrates key coffee varieties from around the world.
The poster, which is available for free download on the WCR website, visually represents the lineage and relation of different coffee varieties included in the WCR Coffee Varieties Catalogue, which profiles over 100 coffee varieties.
The poster and catalogue cover varieties from 22 countries globally across the two species of coffee pants that are in wide cultivation worldwide, Arabica and Robusta.
Each variety is represented on the poster through connecting lines that show how each type is related.
Like the catalogue, the poster has been made to serve as a practical tool and guide for coffee producers, but does not aim to represent an exhaustive list of all coffee varieties in existence.
WCR was also involved in the creation of the globally popular Specialty Coffee Association/WCR/UC Davis Coffee Taster’s Flavour Wheel, which was created using WCR’s foundational Sensory Lexicon.
The visualisation was developed by United Kingdom design agency webDNA to accompany the redesign and re-launch of the catalogue earlier this year.
