The World Barista Championships will take place this year at World of Coffee (WOC), from 10 – 12 June in Rimini Trade Fare Centre in Italy. “World of Coffee is the premium coffee event in Europe for quality coffee from bean to cup and features the most innovative products and services on the market today,” WOC organisers said in a statement. The event is held by the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE). Organisers expect over 30,000 trade visitors and over 200 brands. It will take place on 20,000 square meters of display space, with 50 countries present. World of Coffee will offer three core functions: exhibition space, a training centre, and a stage for international coffee competitions. The exhibition space will showcases every aspect of coffee production from been to cup. This includes coffee-producing nations, new technology, the latest trends, the most current models of consumption, and products from around the world. This space will also feature demonstration areas where the best in specialty coffee and confectionery, fine cuisine, gelato and baking will be brought together for the first time in Rimini. The training centre will offer education, training, skill building and certification under the SCAE Coffee Diploma System. Coffee enthusiasts can choose courses to match their professional/personal requirements. On the competition stage, competitors from across the globe will compete for the crown in three world coffee championships. This includes the flagship World Barista Championship, as well as the World Brewers Cup and the World Coffee Roasting Championship. On the social side, a packed calendar of parallel events will round out the evenings during World of Coffee 2014, including events, shows and contests around Rimini. SCAE said that it chose Fiera di Rimini to concurrently host World of Coffee and the World Barista Championship, due to its HoReCa expertise.
