The world’s highest per capita coffee drinkers are getting ready to host one of Europe’s biggest coffee events when World of Coffee heads to the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre in Gothenburg from 16 – 18 June. Organised by the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE), World of Coffee brings thousands of coffee professionals from more than 100 countries together for a three-day celebration of coffee each June. Staging World of Coffee 2015 in Gothenburg, at the heart of Europe’s Nordic region, was a natural choice for SCAE, explains Executive Director, David Veal. “Coffee lovers in the Nordic region are the world’s most prolific coffee drinkers, consuming more cups of coffee per capita than anywhere else on earth,” said Veal, in a statement. “With such a passion for coffee, it is little wonder that the speciality coffee sector in Nordic countries is among the most exciting in the world, setting trends and leading innovation in our industry.” World of Coffee Rimini, brought 8234 visitors to Rimini Fiera Expo Centre in Italy this June, and SCAE is targeting an even bigger performance in 2015, anticipating that more than 10,000 visitors from around the world will travel to Gothenburg for the event. “We are looking forward to bringing World of Coffee to the region in 2015 and expect it to be the biggest and best event in the show’s history,” said Veal, in the statement. Celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2015, World of Coffee Gothenburg will include SCAE’s education program (which sold out at Rimini in 2014) the SCAE Excellence Awards, New Products of the Show Awards, and SCAE’s Annual Photography Competition. Visitors can also expect a full program of competitions, including the World Cup Tasters Championship, World Coffee Roasting Championship, World Latte Art Championship, World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship and World Brewers Cup. The event takes place in a different European city each year. Dublin, Ireland will host the show in 2016.
