Taiwan Coffee Laboratory, on behalf of the Taiwan Council of Agriculture and the Taiwan Agriculture and Food Agency, has teamed up with Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE) to announce 15 winning coffees in the second instalment of the Private Collection Auction of Taiwanese specialty coffee.

The winning lots, which scored 86 points and higher, represent five varieties, four processes, and three regions.

Fu-Sen Tseng produced the first-place lot, a washed Gesha from Royal Bean Geisha Estate in Chiayi, scoring 89.59 points.

Zhou Zhou Yuan farm took three places, while two other farms, Melastoma Coffee Estate and Songyue coffee manor, took two places while the remainder were all single winners.

A team of 36 panellists representing 17 coffee companies and nine countries selected the top 15 winning coffees to be offered in the auction on 30 June.

This auction will honour the incredible work of the local Taiwanese coffee farmers and share their prize coffees with the rest of the world. This partnership was established as part of ACE’s mission to recognise and reward exceptional producers. It strives to increase farmer access to premium markets.

Sample sets of the winning coffees are now available for purchase.

Taiwanese farmers have been growing coffee for more than a hundred years. The island of Taiwan, with its high elevation mountain ranges and diverse microclimates, supports a range of coffee varieties and processes.

Since Taiwan Coffee Laboratory started working with the central government and local governments to organise national coffee evaluations and regional competitions, there has been a significant increase in the cup qualities of locally grown specialty coffee.
