Starbucks is responding to the runaway success of its cold brew offerings by launching two new cold coffee experiences. Nitro Cold Brew – Starbucks newest take on its signature Cold Brew – is infused with nitrogen to give the beverage a smooth, creamy texture, according to a statement from the company. After handcrafting the Cold Brew recipe, baristas perfect the pour by pulling the tap and allowing the Cold Brew coffee to mix with nitrogen. Nitro Cold Brew is cold right out of the tap and served unsweetened without ice. A tall (12-ounce) serving has 5 calories and 0 grams of sugar. “We start with a small, chilled keg of Starbucks Cold Brew coffee,” said Anthony Carroll, a 20-year partner on Starbucks Coffee team. “Then it’s infused with nitrogen, which unlocks the super-smooth, natural sweetness of the Cold Brew coffee, which then cascades from the tap with a velvety texture you can see and taste.” Nitro Cold Brew is currently offered at select Starbucks stores in Seattle, including the Starbucks Roastery and Tasting Room. Nitro Cold Brew will be available in more than 500 stores by the end of summer, starting with additional stores in Seattle and Portland, followed by New York, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Starbucks is also offering a new iced beverage with Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew in the US and Canada this summer.
“We wanted to create a coffee-forward iced beverage with a splash of sweet cream,” said Christal Canzler from Starbucks beverage development team. Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew is made with Starbucks Cold Brew over ice and topped with a house-made vanilla sweet cream, which floats on top of the beverage before slowly cascading down. A tall (12-ounce) serving is 100 calories and 12 grams of sugar.
