On June 15, 2023, the Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE) and Isla Custom Coffees will host the first auction dedicated to beans grown in the Ka’u District of Hawaii Island.
“We are thrilled to introduce the first regional coffee auction from Hawaii, as well as the first cupping competition exclusively for Ka’u growers,” says R. Miguel Meza, Isla’s Founder.
The event will serve as a platform for growers to showcase their beans and for buyers to discover and purchase unique and high-quality coffees from this region.
The Best of Ka’u Coffee Auction will feature a wide selection of specialty beans grown in the district, as well as a cupping competition exclusively for Ka’u growers.
It’s been more than 15 years since Ka’u beans made a splash on the international coffee scene.
“As we have grown our Private Auction Collection program since its inception in 2014, we are excited to work with diverse coffee origins, and this partnership with Best of Ka‘ū is a great match,” says Darrin Daniel, Executive Director of Alliance for Coffee Excellence.
Isla Custom Coffees has a deep network of Ka’u farmers, and has been sourcing Hawaii-grown specialty coffees for importers and roasters for over a decade. It is now proud to partner with ACE to select and share the best coffees this region has to offer.
This marks the second coffee auction that Isla will hold with ACE, building on the successful 2021 Hawaii Specialty Coffee Auction. In March of 2021, Isla worked with its best producers to showcase 16 micro-lots from the Kona and Ka’u Districts of Hawaii Island.
