Alaska Airlines have announced a new partnership with Stumptown Coffee Roasters to serve a new custom blend that has been crafted with air travel in mind.

“Having flown millions of miles fuelled by countless cups of coffee, Stumptown stands out as first class,” says Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci.

“Like travel, coffee has a remarkable way of bringing people together. I can’t wait for our guests and employees to enjoy a cup of Stumptown when they fly with us.”

According to Alaska Airlines, taste buds react differently at an altitude of 30,000. Stumptown has created a custom blend that ensures a balanced and complex flavour to adjust to these conditions based on its best-selling, certified organic coffee, Holler Mountain.

Alaska Airlines’ medium-dark blend uses the same clean and sweet base as Holler Mountain, but with a primary focus on a roast that mellows acidity and introduces enough toastiness to please a wide range of palates. It’s smooth and balanced, with aromatic notes of toasted marshmallows, browned butter, and toffee with delicate hints of citrus and cherry.

“We wanted a crowd pleaser, something that would delight folks who enjoy milder coffees and also speak to guests who enjoy medium-bodied roasts,” says Stumptown President Laura Szeliga.

Guests can also enjoy Stumptown coffee at Alaska Airlines’ lounges at the JKF airport in New York and the Portland airport.
