Bacha Coffee has officially opened its first store in Japan, and with a second Tokyo location scheduled to open in the first half of 2026, President and CEO Taha Bouqdib is targeting an aggressive expansion approach in the region.
Bacha’s first Japanese store – located in Ginza – contains a coffee boutique, takeaway counter, and café space, is the first of up to 50 Bouqdib hopes to open in the next ten years.
The Singaporean coffeehouse was launched in 2019 and traces its origins to Morocco’s Dar el Bacha palace. Bouqdib revived Bacha Coffee in 2019 under the V3 Gourmet banner.
“My first dream is for Japanese people to become very familiar with Bacha Coffee, so that when they want to enjoy a great coffee at home, they think of … having Bacha Coffee,” says Bouqdib.
“From now to 10 years, I’m hoping to have a maximum of around 40 to 50 stores. I think 50 stores in Japan is reasonable – not too big, not too small.”
Bacha is also looking to open stores in Beijing and Bangkok before the end of 2025, while launching its hotel coffee business to Japan in early 2026.
Currently, it operates in Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Qatar, Kuwait, Macau, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, France, and Taiwan.
The launch of the brand in Japan follows a 2025 where Bacha Coffee has entered into a range of new markets, including opening on the Camps-Élysées in Paris and Macau’s Shoppes at Venetian.
