Brazilian café chain The Coffee ザ・コーヒー has continued its run of international expansion in 2025 by opening its first Australian location in the Sydney suburb of Manly.
The brand’s move into the highly competitive Australian market follows further expansion in Asia earlier this year, when it opened its flagship store in South Korea, as well as introductions to European markets including Armenia, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
The Coffee now operates more than 250 locations worldwide. It was established by brothers Alexandre, Carlos, and Luis Fertonani in 2017, before its first store was opened in 2018.
It positions itself as a Japanese-inspired Brazilian specialty coffee chain, with the Founders’ admiration for Japanese culture blending with Brazil’s history of specialty coffee.
The Coffee’s launch in Australia also follows the announcement of the first local store from Japan’s % Arabica, which is due to open a flagship venue in the Sydney suburb of Bondi.
