Costa Coffee partner with Eseye to launch IoT coffee machines

Costa Coffee has partnered with Eseye to deploy Internet of Things (IoT) enabled self-service vending machines around the world.

Eseye’s IoT technology will enable Costa Coffee to perform real-time monitoring and data collection on its Costa Express machines.

“Eseye’s IoT technology will help Costa Coffee to achieve its vision of transforming the future of drinks retailing. Delivering barista-quality coffee on the go, Costa Express is one of the world’s most advanced vending machines,” says Nick Earle, CEO of Eseye.

An IoT system is a group of interrelated computing devices that can transfer data over a network, without human interaction.

The real-time data monitoring will reduce downtime, as staff will be alerted when maintenance is required or consumables, such as milk need restocking. Costa Express machines can also customise marketing offers based on consumer activity.

“Eseye’s fully redundant fault-tolerant network provides a managed connectivity service with a global footprint, whilst support for multiple cellular networks in each geographical region enables close to 100 per cent connectivity uptime,” says Paul Borrett, Systems and Data Director at Costa Coffee.
