American food and beverage company Danone U.S has announced the opening of a new US$65 million production line in Jacksonville, Florida.

The renovation is an expansion of the existing facility and will extend the grounds to 115,025 square-foot. The new production line has been introduced to support the growth of the brand’s coffee and creamer brands, which include International Delight creamers and STōK Cold Brew Coffee.

The new addition features updated technology, including a bespoke bottle-moulding process that aims to increase production capacity and deliver efficiency and sustainability benefits. The updated technology is designed to yield a 30 percent reduction in bottle loss, as well as reduced water usage, to create Danone’s new recyclable bottles.

“We are proud to be expanding our operations in Jacksonville and creating new jobs and opportunities in the local community,” says Dan Magliocco, President of Danone North America.

“Today’s announcement is the latest example of our over 80 year commitment to American manufacturing and strengthening our local communities. We are focused on serving our consumers as our business continues to grow and innovate, and we are committed to accelerating these investments to play our part in driving economic growth.”

Danone has also announced a new regional distribution centre in the Jacksonville area, aiming to increase local jobs, supply chain efficiency, and develop a distribution network rooted in regional infrastructure.

“Danone’s ongoing commitment to promoting manufacturing in the US and here in Jacksonville is a great example for others to follow,” says Aaron Bean, Representative 4th District Northeast Florida.

“By investing millions of dollars in our economy and creating 200 jobs locally, Danone is demonstrating its long-term commitment to Northeast Florida. I look forward to the continued growth and opportunities that Danone’s investment will offer the 904.”

According to Danone, 90 percent of its products are made in the US and the company is committed to having a self-reliant domestic supply chain.
