Agroforestry systems provider GrowGrounds and business accelerator Sting Bioeconomy have formed a partnership in a joint pursuit to promote agroforestry farming.

As part of its mission to provide support to coffee farmers, GrowGrounds aims to help transform coffee plantations into more sustainable ecosystems through updated cultivation methods.

“We appreciate that GrowGrounds is addressing a complex issue. A combination of business development for international companies and do-good for farmers globally. We are delighted to facilitate our know-how, networks, and support, because we are convinced that GrowGrounds will do it for real. They are on a fantastic mission with complete transparency at every level of the operation”, says Sting Bioeconomy CEO Victor Isaksen.

In its alignment with the business accelerator, GrowGorunds will gain access to the company’s business development initiatives, expertise, and large network to continue its business expansion.

”Sting Bioeconomy is a well-established international accelerator for start-ups. Their focus on sustainable services and products based on renewable resources is a great strength for us. The partnership is a significant catalyst in our work in creating commercial solutions for the benefit of nature, the environment and people across industries and institutions”, says CEO of GrowGrounds Lars Aaen Thøgersen.

Recognising the need for new sustainable solutions within the coffee sector, Swedish coffee company Löfbergs has also welcomed the partnership and has become both an investor and client of the company.

“The coffee industry is facing a series of issues, which we can only target by tackling the real problems at their roots,” says Löfbergs CEO Anders Fredriksson.

“Farmers are getting poorer and older. Nature is under pressure and increases in carbon emissions are threatening our climate. On the other hand, and combined, these challenges hold opportunities for change. This is the whole concept of GrowGrounds, and we see their approach as a severe and long-term investment in our value chain.”

In addition, GrowGrounds is working towards integrating techniques and technologies that grow nature, improve coffee production, and store carbon. The captured carbon dioxide is sold to associated climate partners as carbon credits (CRU) with 80 per cent of the income stream going towards the supporting coffee farmers.
