Vietnamese coffee shop chain Highlands Coffee has announced the opening of its Highlands Cai Mep Roastery in Ba Ria, Vung Tau, Vietnam.

After 25 years in the coffee industry, the company says the opening of the new roastery represents an investment of nearly 500 billion VND (US$21 million) in the country’s coffee sector and that the facility aims to celebrate Vietnamese coffee-making.

“This roastery is our promise to honour the authentic essence of Vietnamese coffee,” says David Thai, Founder and CEO of Highlands Coffee.

“It is a space where tradition meets innovation, allowing us to craft coffee that reflects our farmers’ resilience, our team’s passion, and our nation’s pride. We are proud to be a company deeply rooted with Vietnamese culture, working hand-in-hand with the local farmers to create a product that embodies the character of our nation. We are excited and eager to share this story with the world.”

Highlands Coffee says the 24,000-square-meter roastery is designed for scalable growth, with a planned production capacity of 75,000 tons per year as operations mature. The development addresses the company’s commitment to advancing Vietnamese coffee craftsmanship while increasing demand in both domestic and international markets.

Founded in 1999, Highlands Coffee is said to be one of the pioneers of the Vietnamese coffee industry. It currently operates more than 800 stores, mostly located in Vietnam and the Philippines.
