The inaugural Faysel Abdosh Signature Auction has recorded the highest-ever Ethiopian coffee sale.
The auction, hosted by Testi Specialty Coffee and M-Cultivo, concluded on 16 July by marking a significant milestone in the Ethiopian coffee industry. The Sidama Keramo Super Natural lot reached a record price of US$1,604 per kilogram, purchased by Black Gold Coffee.
“Today, our private auction achieved a historic moment, not only for us but also for Ethiopian coffee as a whole,” says Faysel Abdosh, Founder of Testi Specialty Coffee.
“Everyone’s contribution is a testament to the passion and support for the farmers’ community through our initiative Project Direct. We’re especially grateful to Black Gold Coffee for this remarkable achievement as the highest bidder.”
Founder of Black Gold Coffee Wang Hsin Chun expressed the achievement as an “honour” and highlighted the Testi Speciality Coffee team’s commitment to excellence and innovation.
“Their vision to uplift communities through coffee is truly inspiring. This auction transcends exceptional coffee – it champions people, purpose, and the future of Ethiopian specialty coffee,” says Chun.
“We were profoundly moved to learn that the proceeds, through Project Direct, will support educational programs, women’s healthcare, and vital community infrastructure in coffee producing towns.”
The auction was a first for Ethiopian exporting company Testi Speciality Coffee.
“We’re delighted but not surprised to see such fantastic results for the Faysel Abdosh auction this year,” says M-Cultivo CEO David Paparelli.
“Working with Testi Specialty Coffee to bring this auction to fruition has been a pleasure, and we hope it continues to move Ethiopian coffee forward.”
