In celebration of International Coffee Day on 1 October, La Marzocco opened its doors to the Accademia del Caffè Espresso: a multifunctional space designed to promote coffee quality on multiple platforms.

“What better day to officially open the doors of the Accademia del Caffè for guided tours of the exhibition spaces, first contact experiences with the world of coffee, and in-depth courses dedicated to professionals and enthusiasts?” says La Marzocco.

La Marzocco’s workshop and factory space has been reborn as the new Accademia del Caffè Espresso which it described as an “open and shared space born for learning and exploration”.

The space includes a museum that shares La Marzocco’s technological innovations across its rich 90 year history and covers the botany and origins of the coffee plant. It also holds laboratories that encompass functional research and training, a library, a historical archive, and a professional kitchen.

The opening day, on 1 October, saw visitors able to book a guided tour of the museum, with an option to integrate the tour with coffee tastings, coffee-related experiences, and courses. These courses are “mini-courses” that last one hour and introduced different perspectives on the three macro-families of sensory, origin, and skill.

La Marzocco says these courses are designed for all audiences seeking greater coffee insight and are suitable for both enthusiasts and professionals.

“From cupping, professional coffee tasting, latte art, roasting, and the preliminaries of processing methods, these experiences allow visitors to immerse themselves in the multifaceted world of coffee and to learn to understand everything that goes into our daily cup of coffee,” says La Marzocco.

“The soul of the Accademia del Caffè is multifaceted and its spaces are designed for sharing and an exchange of ideas.”

In the coming months, the Accademia del Caffè Espresso plans to expand its courses and masterclasses to more subjects within the world of coffee and the café landscape.
