Meet Wally Milk, La Marzocco’s steaming solution

Officially launched in 2021, Wally Milk is La Marzocco‘s automatic steamer designed to help everyone create perfect steamed milk with minimal training and attention.

What Wally Milk does 

Wally Milk is a standalone milk steaming device that connects to the espresso machine. It is designed to mimic the steaming process of a barista by tilting the pitcher, controlling the depth of the steam wand, and monitoring the temperature of the steamed milk precisely. In this manner it can create beautifully textured, high-quality steamed milk at the press of a button, with the option of choosing between several recipes different milk types, sizes, or type of drink.

How Wally Milk works 

Wally’s design begins with a motorised steam wand, equipped with a vortex steam tip, that can automatically move up and down. Because it uses a pro-touch steam wand, the surface of the wand stays cool and easy to clean after steaming. An advanced time-of-flight sensor located above the steam wand allows it to automatically sense the depth of the milk in the pitcher to control the depth of the steam wand. The dual valve system inside the machine allows it to purge condensation prior to steaming milk, and Wally automatically controls the angle of the pitcher and the depth of the wand while steaming. A non-contact temperature sensor reads the temperature from the wall of the pitcher, stopping every drink at precisely the right temperature.

How Wally Milk helps cafes 

With Wally Milk, cafés can improve their drink consistency while allowing the barista to focus more closely on the coffee and the customers. Because Wally acts as an extra steam wand for your machine, baristas are still able to steam milk using the machine’s steam wand while Wally is steaming. The ability to program up to 20 recipes in the machine allows users to quickly switch between multiple milk types, easily accommodating an array of alternative milks. All of this means that drinks can be more consistent, more attention can be paid to the coffee and customer service, and baristas can be confident that they can handle the busiest rush with ease.
