The Melitta Group has acquired a 70 per cent stake in the Italian coffee roaster Corsino Corsini, known for brands including Caffè Corsini and Compagnia dell’Arabica.

Melitta says the traditionally family owned Italian roaster, located in Arezzo, is very well positioned with well-known brands at home and abroad, especially in the specialty coffee sector. The aim of the partnership is to strengthen each other and grow together.

The German based coffee company says above all, the partnership will allow for closer cooperation in market cultivation and the development of new products.

“We are very happy to have found a company in Caffè Corsini that not only fits our strategic direction perfectly, but also pursues a very similar corporate philosophy to ours,” says Jero Bentz, member of the Melitta Group’s management team, translated from German.

“Caffè Corsini is a family company with a long tradition and the highest demands on its brands. We share a great passion for coffee and we both want to grow internationally. That is why we fit together very well in terms of both our focus and our corporate culture.”

Caffè Corsini offers a wide range of products for retail and food service. The brands Caffè Corsini and Compagnia dell’Arabica have a high level of recognition and a distinctive profile around the world. The company has earned an excellent reputation, especially in the specialty coffee business. In 2020, the company’s 44 employees generated sales of €15 million (about US$17 million).

The new deal will reportedly not impact the leadership or operations of Caffè Corsini.

“Our future partnership opens up numerous new perspectives for both of us,” says Patrick Hoffer, Managing Partner of Caffè Corsini.

“We can bring in our various competencies and networks and thus strengthen each other and benefit from each other. We are therefore very much looking forward to working together and continuing our internationalisation activities.”
