Nestlé has announced it will invest a further US$75 million in the expansion of its Tri An plant in the Vietnamese province of Dong Nai, which will bring the company’s total investment in the site over 2024-25 to $175 million.

The added investment was announced at an event commemorating 30 years of Nestlé operation in Vietnam, and will bring the company’s total investment in the region to approximately $904 million.

Chairman and CEO of Nestlé Vietnam Binu Jacob says the added investment shows the faith Nestlé has in the further development of the region.

“Our 30-year story in Vietnam has never been only about Nestlé. It’s been a shared story – one written through partnerships, innovation, and sustainable progress,” Jacob writes on LinkedIn.

“Over the years, through opening six world-class factories, creating thousands of jobs, enhancing the lives of coffee farmers, empowering rural women, and helping millions of children stay active, we have proudly contributed to the fabric of Vietnam’s economic and social development.

“[We are] excited to not just be part of the country’s progress, but to help shape it – for a healthier, stronger, and more sustainable tomorrow for Vietnam.”

Nestlé’s Tri An plant is one of the largest and most advanced Nestlé facilities in the world. It currently exports products from brands including Starbucks, Nescafé, and Nescafé Dolce Gusto to more than 29 countries across the globe.

Vietnam is one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of coffee, with Nestlé standing as its largest buyer with annual purchases reaching up to US$700 million.

Nestlé implemented its sustainability program, The Nescafé Plan in the Vietnamese Central Highlands in 2011 to support farmers transitioning to more sustainable farming methods and help rejuvenate coffee plots through the distribution of high-quality coffee plantlets, and protects water resources and biodiversity.

Jacob says Nestlé’s 30 years of operating in the Vietnam is just the beginning of its journey in the region.

“If a century were a single day, then for us at Nestlé Vietnam, 30 years is just the start of our dawn. We are full of energy, with renewed ambition, bold new possibilities, and just getting started,” he writes.

“This is not just about capital investment. It is our vote of confidence in Vietnam’s future – in its talent, resilience, and boundless potential.”

Nestlé Vietnam received a special certificate of merit from the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, as well as a special plaque and certificate of merit from the Dong Nai Province following the announcement of the new investment.

Across its six facilities in Vietnam, Nestlé currently employs approximately 3000 employees.
