Expocacer is celebrating a record-breaking purchase for a bag of specialty coffee produced in Brazil’s Cerrado Mineiro region, with a Pulped Cherry lot produced by Eduardo Pinheiro Campos from Fazenda Dona Nenem.
The strategic consortium led by Expocacer, together with Veloso Green Coffee, Marex, and Nucoffee purchased the bag for US$38,500 at the 13th Cerrado Mineiro Regional Award in Uberlândia.
In total, the auction raised US$108,500 across nine winning lots. Approximately 40 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to the Escola de Atitude project, an initiative aimed at promoting civic education for young people in coffee-producing communities.
Campos has labelled the achievement of the record sale as an “enormous honour” for both himself and the Fazenda Dona Nenem team.
“It is an enormous honour for our team to reach this result. They are the ones who truly get their hands dirty,” he says.
“We are simply guiding the path toward this level of excellence. The emotion is immense because it represents many years of work, achievements, and awards.
“Throughout the thirteen editions of this competition, we have reached the podium eleven times, proving the consistency of our journey and our ongoing commitment to quality.”
Simão Pedro, President of Expocacer, says the overall success of the auction showcases the continuing rising of quality in Cerrado Mineiro’s coffee production.
“When international and domestic buyers compete at this level, it validates our commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation,” he says.
