Nuova Simonelli is celebrating the 15th World Barista Championship (WBC) by releasing a short film to be premiered at World of Coffee in Rimini, Italy, taking place from 9 – 12 June. Nuova Simonelli, the technical partner and coffee machine provider of the WBC, hired professional actors for the short film, to honour past WBC champions and to welcome visitors to the event. Following its first screening in Rimini, the short film will take part in various film competitions and will be available for viewing on You Tube. The 2014 WBC competitors will use Nuova Simonelli’s Aurelia II to prepare four espressos, four cappuccinos and four signature drinks in 15 minutes. Judges will then evaluate each performance on the taste of the beverages, cleanliness, creativity, technical ability and the competitor’s presentation. Following the initial selection, the 12 best baristas will go through to the semi finals and from these, the six finalists are chosen. The final on June 12 will crown the 2014 World Barista Champion.
