The Fall 2025 National Coffee Data Trends (NCDT) report, conducted by Dig Insights on behalf of the National Coffee Association (NCA), has revealed America’s coffee consumption habits.
The report shows coffee remains at the top of Americans’ beverage choices, aside from bottled water, with 66 per cent of American adults drinking coffee each day.
According to the report, 85 per cent of past-day coffee drinkers had coffee at breakfast, 82 per cent drank coffee at home, and coffee drinkers consume an average of nearly three cups per day.
What’s more, the report revealed that overall coffee’s popularity has remained consistent since 2022. Cold, iced, and frozen blended coffee saw a seasonal boost, making up 31 per cent of all coffee consumed in the June survey – up 23 per cent from the January 2025 survey.
“Coffee’s staying power as a beloved touchstone in Americans’ daily lives is remarkable, and its contributions to our health and our economy give Americans even more ‘grounds for celebration’ this National Coffee Day and every day,” says Bill Murray, CEO and President NCA.
The report also saw the popularity of specialty coffee continue to rise, with 48 per cent of American adults reporting to have consumed it in the past day (up from 37 per cent in 2021).
How Americans prepare coffee was also an area of interest in the report, with drip brewers being the most popular preparation method at 38 per cent. Other methods, including instant and ready-to-drink coffee, continue to increase in popularity, with 11 per cent of past-day coffee drinkers consuming instant coffee (up from 6 per cent in 2021) and 19 per cent having ready-to-drink.
