Repurpose cup, 100 per cent compostable, insulated hot coffee cup

This 100 per cent compostable insulated hot cup recently took home the top prize at the 2011 SCAA Expo as the best new product in the sustainability category. Because it is insulated, the cup also eliminates the need for the additional materials used in double cupping or sleeves. The insulated technology keeps hot beverages warmer for longer, and prevents heat from escaping. The new cup also uses 65 per cent less carbon dioxide than a traditional cup to produce and can be composted in 90 days. While traditional insulated cups are made by adding additional layers of paper, the Repurpose cup does the same with a patented insulation material on a single wall cup. The product is being hailed as the greenest possible alternative to Styrofoam and non-compostable cups. The cup also took first prize at CoffeeFest Chicago for the most innovative new product.
