The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf announced on 13 February that US retailers Target, Macy's and Dillard's will offer the CBTL single-serve system to their customers. . “We have been delighted with the way consumers have embraced the CBTL® system,” said Mel Elias, President & CEO of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in a press release. “And now we are so happy to have such major retailers as Target, Macy's and Dillard's take notice of the popularity CBTL has achieved and agree to carry the line, making it easier for consumers to bring the experience of our cafe beverages into their homes.” The CBTL system is designed to be used with capsules containing The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf hand-selected premium espresso, coffee and hand-plucked whole leaf tea. Available in 20 varieties, each CBTL capsule is hermetically sealed to prolong freshness and preserve aromas, and features an internal two-filter system to ensure evenly balanced extraction. Launched in Southern California since 1963, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is the oldest and largest privately-held specialty coffee and tea retailer in the United States, the company said in the press release. The company has grown internationally and currently has more than 800 stores in 22 countries. In 2010, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf launched the CBTL Single Serve Beverage System. The company teamed with Sensio Inc., a leading manufacturer and distributor of small kitchen appliances, to distribute the CBTL System in US department stores, mass, discount and big box retailers as well as home shopping networks.
