Swiss coffee machine manufacturer Thermoplan AG has acquired Swiss roaster startup Mikafi.

As one of the major developers and manufacturers of professional fully automatic coffee machines, Thermoplan says it is excited about the collaboration with tabletop coffee roaster producer Mikafi.

The compact roasters enable green coffee beans to be freshly roasted on site in cafés and other venues in a short space of time without the need for any special expertise. Mikafi aims to produce individual roasting profiles, as small quantities of signature roasts can be prepared directly at the point of consumption.

As part of the acquisition, Thermoplan’s vision is to offer customers the entire bean-to-cup journey from a single source – from green coffee to roasting to preparing the final cup.

Thermoplan will be presenting the Mikafi roaster live at Host Milano in Italy from 17 to 21 October at Stand B23/C24 in Hall 8P.
