Vietnam exports up 1.6 million bags: Volcafe

Vietnam’s exports continue in massive volume, at 21 million 60-kilogram bags in the year ending April 2012, according to an internal report by Volcafe. Other Robusta exports seem to have lost pace due to lower crops, down by 2.6 million bags to 18.7 million in the same period, according to the report. Robusta inventories are said to have been drawn down by 2 million bags in the last 12 months, compared to a build up of 1 million bags from May 2010 to April 2011. Volcafe said that an extra 2 million bags of Robusta exports have gone to other producing countries including Mexico, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, and China, meaning that total Robusta exports to importing countries are down by 3 million bags. This explains why Robusta inventories are being drawn down, event though Robusta demand in traditional markets is said to be unchanged.
