Swiss Engineer Eric Favre has sold Monodor Patents and Mocoffee to Brazilian online wine and beer merchant Wine.com.br. Wine.com.br. has purchased Monodor Patents, which specialises in the research and development of coffee capsules and Mocoffee, a worldwide supplier of coffee capsules. The purchase includes all of the two company’s assets and patents. Mocoffee products are currently present in 17 countries, including Australia, Switzerland and France. Its new owners have said they are now planning to launch and market the coffee capsules in Brazil. “We’re sending out the message that Mocoffee is a brand that is an ideal blend of Brazilian talent with Swiss precision and technology,” said Rodério Salume, CEO of Wine.com.br, in a statement. “I am convinced that through this venture we can contribute towards promoting products which are the very essence of our country, while also continuing on our path of innovation and entrepreneurship.” Salume has been appointed Chairman of the Mocoffee holding, effective immediately. Mocoffee Co-Founder Pascal M. Schittler is the new CEO of the two companies. Ricardo Flores, whose previous role was Wine.com.br’s Marketing and New Business Director, will be the new Mocoffee Executive Vice-President. The statement said Favre has retired from the Monodor and Mocoffee companies following the acquisition. Favre was previously employed with Nestlé where he invented the Nespresso capsule. He left to further develop a new capsule system he’d been working on. Favre founded Monodor with Schittler in 1991. Favre said that since he left Nespresso he has worked tirelessly to improve the system to both refine the coffee flavours and reduce its ecological impact. Pictured: Swiss Engineer Eric Favre
