On 28 March 2025, United Kingdom café chain Costa Coffee introduced its first ever 24-hour drive-thru in Wales.
The existing drive-thru venue in Llantrisant Green Meadow extended its opening hours, with three additional baristas joining the team to deliver Costa Coffee’s menu of coffee, tea, and food at any time of day or night.
A company spokesperson said: “With our new 24-hour drive-thru, the first of its kind in Wales, we’re making it even easier for customers to enjoy our coffee, made with our Mocha Italia Signature taste, and food menu whenever they need it. Whether it’s a late-night pick-me-up or an early morning start, our team is thrilled to bring the Costa Coffee experience to customers 24/7.”
In November 2024, the company trialled its first 24-hour drive-thru at its Leicester Meridian East store. The café chain said the initiative reflects its commitment to serving customers at all times including those providing a vital service to the local community such as healthcare professionals, hospitality and retail workers, and delivery drivers.
“Costa Coffee has always been at the heart of the community and this trial is another way for us to serve our customers when they need us most,” said Matt Harman, Costa Coffee Regional Operations Director for North and Central England.
“We’re proud that our Leicester Meridian East Drive-Thru is the first store to trial this exciting initiative. Whether it’s a late-night coffee run or picking up an early breakfast for commuters, our team is ready to deliver the Costa Coffee experience around the clock.”
The company carefully monitored feedback from customers and the local community throughout the trial to make informed decisions about the potential to roll out 24-hour trading across additional locations. In February 2025, Costa Coffee announced its East Kent Retail Park store would be opening its drive-thru lane 24 hours per day.
